The LCD TechnologyThe polysilicon LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is an elaborate optical projection system. The strengths of this system lie in the comparable high brightness and the color fidelity. There is a distinction between the 1-panel and the 3-panel device. Whereas the 1-panel device works with a color filter template, the 3-panel device has a polysilicon LCD for each of the basic colors (red, green, blue). Such an LCD can be 0.7, 0.9, 1.3, or 1.8 inch across diagonally. |
The light of the lamp is directed through the LCD panels with semi-permeable, dichroitic mirrors. Subsequently, the single colors are combined into one ray again. The three pixels are projected lying over each other and are seen on the screen as colored points.
The quality of the picture depends on, not only the number of pixels but also their alignment.
