With a surround system, you import explosions, crashes or rotating helicopter blades right into your living-room. But not only noise and dramatic effects are impressively portrayed.

Also fine, quiet sounds become a real experience. The analogue Dolby-Surround, that is stereo compatible to extend to 4-band, moved into the living-room in the beginning of the 80's. There has been Dolby-Digital since 1992 with two fully independent surround channels. This technology allows real stereo sound effects, with even more convincing room depth, even better locality and an enormous feeling of being "on the spot".
