Miscellaneous
As it is with cables, so it is with plugs: it would be best if one could do without them altogether as they always constitute a weakness in the relaying of data and information to another device. Because of that and ones own watching and listening enjoyment, one should make sure to get good quality connectors and to take care of them. High quality plug connections are usually gold-plated to prevent corrosion. Cheap gold-plated connectors can quite quickly become damaged. Layers of dust forming on them can negatively affect the sound or, for example, the picture. To keep the connectors in good working order, an occasional removal and plugging in again helps. We recommended using a special cleaner to remove the dust.

Banana plug
A banana plug is used for an audio connection. The banana plug guarantees a contact-sure connection.
BFA plug
The BFA plug is used for the connection to a loudspeaker.
BNC plug
The BNC plugs (Bayonet Nut Coupler) are coaxial plugs that are used, for example, for Ethernet connections. They are especially well shielded and have an exact resistance adaptation.

IEC/coax plug
Plug on a normal coaxial aerial connection cable.

SCART plug ( also known as Euro AV )
A SCART plug allows the connection of TV devices, video recorders, or DVD players and it should have a 21-pole cable. Through which, video, audio, and control signals are sent. Depending on which device is connected up, SCART transmits different quality picture signals like composite video, S video, or also RGB.
Toslink-Stecker
A Toslink plug is connected to a light-wave power cable (glass-fibre cable) that can transmit at a very high data rate and due to its light-wave power technology is not in need of any shielding. The Toslink plug, in connection with a light-wave power cable, is used to transmit digital audio signals for the electronics entertainment.
XLR plug
This is a 3-pole plug that is usually used professionally, for example, in studio technology.
